How much is a quarter rack colocation in the UK?
Our quarter rack colocation is £335 a month and includes the full 10U of rack space plus an extra 1U three-quarter-length slot, a block of 8 IPv4 addresses, 300 Mbit/s of unlimited internet, 3 Amps of inclusive power, a fully managed firewall and a site-to-site VPN. Extra power is £0.40 per kWh, metered, with no setup fee.
Where is the quarter rack colocation data centre?
In our own Sheffield ISO 27001 data centre, not far from the city centre. The site has N+1 cooling, A/B power from separate UPS feeds, backup generators, hot and cold aisle containment and 24/7 monitoring. Physical security is two-factor (electronic key fob and PIN), with CCTV inside and out and smoke, fire and intruder alarms.
How many servers can I fit in a 10U quarter rack?
Most customers run 5 to 8 1U or 2U servers in a quarter rack, plus a switch and a small backup target. If you're consolidating from a comms cupboard, that's usually enough for a whole small business's IT plus headroom. If you're using denser hardware like 4U chassis or blade enclosures, get in touch and we'll size it with you.
Can I upgrade from a quarter rack to a half rack later?
Yes, and we make it painless. Upgrading from a quarter to a half rack is a same-day move within the same cabinet. No new IPs, no new cables, no migration window. Decide on Friday, in production Monday. You only ever pay for the size you need today, with a clear path to grow.
Can I access my quarter rack 24/7?
Yes. As a quarter rack customer you get 24/7 secure access using two-factor entry. During UK business hours (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm) the team is on-site and can meet you. Out of hours emergency access is available at an hourly callout rate. There's a break area on-site with network, power and tea-making facilities for longer visits.
Is 3 Amps of power enough for a quarter rack?
3 Amps (about 700 kWh a month at 230V) is the inclusive allowance and works well for most quarter rack deployments using modern, efficient hardware. If you're running older servers or higher-density compute, you'll likely use more, and any extra power is metered at £0.40 per kWh. We send usage reports so there are no surprises. If you know you'll need more headroom, we can include a larger allowance.
